The Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS)

The Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) was designed to help people who have circumstances that need to be taken into consideration by the businesses or organisations that they have contact with. It is completely free to register yourself.

The VRS gives people a single place to register their vulnerable status to protect themselves and avoid repeating the same difficult conversations. The organisations which use our service will be alerted to the fact that someone’s situation needs to be considered – whether they are contacting them for the first time or where they have an existing relationship with them.

People who register for the VRS can either opt to simply make organisations aware of their circumstances, or choose to be turned down for financial or related services for a period of time. This is a layer of protection if they feel that they can’t make decisions which are in their best interests.

You can also give additional information about whether you’re vulnerable because of; a mental or physical disability, mental capacity issues or a cognitive disorder, where a lifestyle even such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown has occurred, where there is serious financial hardship or capacity, or if there is a gambling addiction.
